DIY: Hair Chalking

Hair chalking is a cheap and very easy (seriously, really really easy) way to get those rainbow colored strands of hair without permanently dyeing your hair.  Here's how it's done!

What You'll Need:
Chalk Pasteles (can be found at local crafts stores, Michael's)
Water
Straightening/ curling iron

Steps:
1.You're going to want to twist the hair, by twisting the hair, you'll create friction between the hair and chalk pastel which will make the color come off much easier.
2. Saturate the section of hair that you're going to apply the color to with water.
3.Begin to rub the chalk back and forth on your hair.
4. Once you've completely covered the desired section of hair with the color, (remember the back as well!) comb the hair out.
5. Let the hair dry to prevent damage to the hair. Once hair is dry, take your curling or straitening iron and style the hair. This will set the color into your hair.
 You're done!

The color should last 2-3 days depending on your hair. I'll be trying hair chalking very soon and will make an updated post with pictures and maybe a video (tutorial, review, pros-cons) We'll see!

Homemade Remedies: Healthy Skin

We all know that skincare is important, especially in the summer time. Your skin is the "base" of your makeup so you want it to be as smooth, clean and healthy as possible. Now, I've done my research and I've found homemade remedies/treatments you can make yourself at home! Skincare is very important to me so expect a post on my favorite skin care products.

Oily Skin:
Strawberry Exfoliating Scrub~
4 strwaberries
2 tbsp brown sugar
Mash the strawberries in a bowl and mix in the brown sugar to make a scrub for exfoliating oily skin.
Lemon and Hot water face wash~
1/2 a cup lemon juice
1 cup hot water
A mix of lemon juice and hot water does the trick for oily skin, the acidic nature of the lemon will clear away oil and dirt from pores.
Peppermint Facial Toner~
1 peppermint tea bag
2 tbsp witch hazel
1 t. lime juice
1 t. lemon juice
1 cup of boiling water
After taking the peppermint tea bag out of the boiling water allow to cool for 10 minutes. Then, the rest of the ingredients should be thoroughly mixed in well and refrigerated.

Dry Skin:

Honey face wash for dry skin~

2 t. of honey

2 t.of almond oil
1/4 cup whole milk
Mix all ingredients to make face wash
Cucumber Honey Facial Toner~
1 cucumber
1/2 t. honey
Peel cucumber and blend or food process. Strain only extracting the juice, mix in honey and store.
Avocado Honey Mask~
1 Avocado
3 t. honey
1 t. of lemon juice
½ t. of milk
Mash avocado until completely smooth, mix in honey and lemon thoroughly.
These remedies are definitely easy to make using only a few items each that you most likely have in your kitchen! Here is where I found these awesome natural remedies! Look forward to Combination and acne prone skin natural remedies post as well as a favorite skin care products post in the near future!

Rhinestones and Crosses

My friend did my nails for me during a fun day of girl time! I absolutely love them. -Kimay

Beauty Inspiration: Adrienne Bailon

Most girls my age had a Cheetah Girls faze, whether they'd like to admit it or not, I for sure did (I met them and have a signed copy of their last cd). From being known as "Chanel Simmons" by tweens to Rob Kardashian's ex-girlfriend by, "The Kardashians" demographic, Adrienne Bailon is now working on her solo career and has a reality show that she costars in with Julissa Bermudez. Ok, now lets cut to the chase, Adrienne is absolutely gorgeous. Her style is amazing; youthful and edgy yet sophisticated, her makeup is always on point, her hair is so pretty and long and the perfect color, I could go on and on!

The Side Cut.

~So obviously, I haven't posted on here since February but we're going to ignore the massive time gap and skip to the good stuff!

OK, side cuts. I've noticed that side cuts have come into style and I've put much thought into them. First off, I respect the balls (yeah, I said it) it takes to just shave the side of your head. Personally I believe that hair is hair and it'll grow back (but then theres the little girly girl within me that would be just devastated if it didn't look right). I think they're super stylish and trendy and it obviously takes a certain type of person to rock one.
Lourdes Leon was seen with a new side cut a few months ago and I absolutely loved it on her and as I mentioned before in a previous post she's definitely a style inspiration to me so it got me thinking.

Lola's side cut
I also love Cassie's side cut!

For those of us who aren't so ballsy (said it again, yes) enough to shave the side of our heads, here's an awesome video that I've found on how to fake a side cut!

November Beauty Favorites!

I havent posted in a long, long time, but I'm back! School is consuming all of my time but I'm determined to make time for my blogging again haha. So, I thought I would try to do a November Beauty Favorites post because I've definitely bought some great beauty products I'm in love with!
Urban Outfitters Nail Polish in Dust :  2 FOR $8.00

I recently bought this nail polish from Urban Outfitters along with another one named Cocktail (which I haven't tried yet) and I absolutely  love  it. Its very seasonal, the thick glitter reminds me of snow and Christmas (Happy Holidays! it's all bout the sequence and glitter.), it can be worn as a top coat over another nail polish or worn alone with two coats. Guaranteed to catch the eye's attention, it's definitely my favorite nail polish for November!

MAC Paint Pot in Nubile: $17.50
MAC is my favorite makeup brand ever, its quite pricey though, (teenager allowance here, this was a gift). MAC paint pot is 100% worth the money. This is a staple product I use absolutely every day; as a primer, base or alone as a cream eyeshadow. The fact that it can be worn as a neutral cream shadow is the best! It lasts for an extremely long time and doesn't smudge or smear at all. I don't really feel the need to try any other primers, this one's that good!

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Iced Amethyst : (price varies between $7.00- $9.00 range)

I've always wanted to try a berry lip for this time of year, so I went out and tried finding a purple-ish colored lipstick. Searching CVS' beauty isle, I finally found this Revlon lipstick. I hadn't realized it was pearl when I bought it so that kind of worried me afterwards once I realized (not a big fan of pearl or frost) but after trying it on I absolutely loved it. Revlon has great lipsticks that really last a long time; no worries of getting it all over your face. I'll definitely be searching for some more berry colored lipsticks! Its kind of hard to see but the picture shows that as you move in the light you can see a darker purple so that adds an interesting pop of color.  Its a bit of a daring color but it's definitely not a neon purple or anything so it could be worn on a daily basis if wanted.

Hope you guys enjoyed! Let me know if you want some more monthly favorite beauty products! xoxoxo lots of love!
